Techrentice

A technologist apprenticeship. We recruit for talent independent of all the -isms then do lateral-skills-transfer via paid internships. If you’ve got it, we'll get you where you need to be. Sign up below.

  • You teach what you want to learn. It’s a basic principle of the universe.

We want to be ourselves, active and creative prosocial geniuses. So we teach it to our clients, and we surround ourselves with smart creative people who are actively learning how to make the world a better place during a time of profoundly escalating technological change.

  • We pay a flat $15/hr wage for 3 months of internship, no more than 20 hrs/week with a set curriculum. Hopefully by then our clients can hire you for basic technologist stuff or you can launch a company and take over the world on your own. (World domination is a tried and true genius activity.)

  • We randomly select from the applicant pool based on funding from Empulsive Ink and available mentors.

We require transparent disclosure of anything we would find on a good background check. That said, we can accommodate for any neurodiversity, former incarceration, current childrearing, bad English, facial malformations, or complete lack of any degree.

What we can’t fix is lack of ethics, if you don’t have ethics don’t apply — we will notice.

  • We’re bringing back the old guild/craftsman model for technology, startups, and entrepreneurship.

University is going the way of the dinosaurs. Formal education simply isn’t fast enough to keep up with the pace of technological change. In order to acquire skills, and be relevant in diffusion-of-innovation theory people need hands-on application of technology.

We’re also borrowing a bit from very high-end esoteric disciplines that teach hands-on skills on a master-apprentice relationship like shipbuilding, yoga, metalwork, and surgery.

You can donate used Mac laptops and iPhones to underprivileged savants in the Techrentice program and subsistence farmers in The Savimbo Project.

Devices can be shipped to our partner Secret Simple Computer Repair, 1320 Arrow Point Dr, Suite 501 #TW86 Cedar Park, TX 78613 where they are professionally wiped, assessed for condition, repaired if possible and recycled if not. (Yes, we think Secret Simple rocks too!)

Please include your assessed value of the device if you wish a donation receipt from Empulsive Ink (our affiliated 501(c)3 nonprofit) and also email us so we know it’s coming.
